What you need to get started:

1. An account with Leapfrog Internet
2. Your username
3. Your password
4. Your Local Access number

Please print the instructions for easy follow-along and for future reference.

This guide is suitable for Mac OS 7.1 and above. The PPP control panel is system specific, and some versions of PPP will not work on some operating systems. As a result, this setup guide is provided for your information only, and there is no guarantee it is fit for all configurations.

Setting up MacPPP
MacPPP has two files associated with it. These are 'ConfigPPP' and 'PPP'. 'PPP' belongs in your 'Extension' folder; 'ConfigPPP' belongs in the 'Control Panels' folder. If these two files are not in their correct place, place them there and reset your computer. This means switching the computer off and then on again.

Edit the ConfigPPP dialogue box to look the same as the one below. If necessary, change the port name. This is the serial port your computer uses to access the modem. When you are sure that all these settings here are correct, click on the 'New' button, enter in 'Leapfrog Internet' for the PPP server name and then click the 'Config' button.

Edit your dialogue box to look the same as the one below, or as necessary for your system. The port speed of your modem if you have a 28.8 or 33.6k is 38400, and if you have a 56.6k modem it will be 57600. You will need to enter in the phone number that your computer will be dialing to access the Internet.

**Please note it is the customer's responsibility to find the correct access number that is a local call.**

Once finished putting these in, click on the 'Connect Script' to continue setting up your connection.

Edit your dialogue box to look exactly the same as the one below. Once this has been done, click 'OK'.

Now, click on 'Authentication' and the dialogue box shown should appear.

Type in your login name with an lfi (short for leapfrog internet) at the beginning (for example: if your login name is john, enter lfijohn).

At the end of your user name, enter the appropriate network extension from one of the tables below. Your network code was either sent to you in a welcome email if you signed up over the phone or was on the confirmation page if you signed up online:

Network ID- 56/64K Extension to add to username
ST or MG @vdialup.net
QW @entnix.com
VW @leapmail.net (you do not need to put the 'lfi' in front of your username with this network extension)
UU @vhst.net
01 @ca.ppp
Network ID- 128K ISDN
ST @vdialup.net

An example user name might look like this: lfijohn@vdialup.net or jane@leapmail.net

**Note this username masking is necessary for network authentication purposes. If you are unsure which ending to use, please contact us at support@leapmail.net**

After your complete login name has been entered, type your password in the bottom field and click 'OK', click on 'Done' and close the ConfigPPP window.

TCP/IP Settings
All that is necessary is to configure your TCP/IP control panel with the same information as shown below in the screen shot. Once this has been done, close TCP/IP and save the changes.

MacTCP Settings
MacTCP is actually a control panel and will be found in the Control Panels folder. If you open up your control panel, you should find it there. If it isn't there, find it and drag it into the control panels folder. After doing this, you will need to restart your computer. Once you have restarted the computer, go back into the Control Panels folder and double click on the MacTCP icon.

You now need to ensure that the PPP icon is highlighted. If it isn't, click on it once with your mouse to highlight it, and then click on 'More'. You now to set your MacTCP control panel so it looks exactly the same as the graphic below. Once you have done this, click on 'OK' and then close the MacTCP dialogue box. You will now need to restart your computer once again. You are now ready to connect to the Internet.
