imac setup instructions

This tutorial will quickly help you get connected to Leapfrog Internet using your iMac computer. If you have any difficulties please call 877-266-4831 or email us at support@leapmail.net with your questions.

What you need to get started:

1. An account with Leapfrog Internet
2. Your username
3. Your password
4. Your Local Access number

Please print the instructions for easy follow-along and for future reference.

iMac using Internet Setup Assistant
Open your Harddisk, and in the 'Assistants' folder, double-click on 'Internet Setup Assistant'. Click 'Yes' to begin the setup process.





Click 'Yes' to continue.


Click on the right arrow to continue.

 


Enter 'Leapfrog Internet' in the name field, make sure the 'Modem' button is selected, then hit the right arrow to continue.



Select the modem you are using from the drop-down menu, make sure the proper port is selected and that the 'Tone' button is highlighted, then hit the right arrow to continue.



This next box is very important, so please make sure to follow the instructions as closely as possible.

In the top field, put the number that your computer will be dialing to access the Internet.

**Please note it is the customer's responsibility to find the correct access number that is a local call.**

In the middle field,
type in your login name with an lfi (short for leapfrog internet) at the beginning (for example: if your login name is john, enter lfijohn). At the end of your user name, enter the appropriate network extension from one of the tables below. Your network code was either sent to you in a welcome email if you signed up over the phone or was on the confirmation page if you signed up online:

Network ID- 56/64K Extension to add to username
ST or MG @vdialup.net
QW @entnix.com
VW @leapmail.net (you do not need to put the 'lfi' in front of your username with this network extension)
UU @vhst.net
01 @ca.ppp
Network ID- 128K ISDN
ST @vdialup.net


An example user name might look like this: lfijohn@vdialup.net or jane@leapmail.net

**Note this username masking is necessary for network authentication purposes. If you are unsure which ending to use, please contact us at support@leapmail.net**

After your complete login name has been entered, type your password in the bottom field and hit the right arrow to continue.




Make sure the 'No' button is highlighted and hit the right arrow to continue.

Enter the DNS addresses as shown in the box below, enter 'leapmail.net' in the field below, and hit the right arrow to continue.





Enter your full email address in the top field as shown below (if your username is 'jsmith', put 'jsmith@leapmail.net'), and put your password in the next field. You can leave the bottom field as is and hit the right arrow to continue.



Enter your information in the top field in the format shown below. For example, if your username is 'jsmith', you would enter 'jsmith@mail.leapmail.net'. Enter 'mail.leapmail.net' in the bottom field as shown below, and hit the right arrow to continue.




Newsgroups are not available on this domain, so leave this field blank, then hit the right arrow to continue.

 

Make sure the 'No' button is highlighted on this screen, then hit the right arrow to continue.

 

You have now finished configuring your iMAC for connection to the Internet. To complete your Internet Settings, click 'Go Ahead'.


To connect later, you can either use the Remote Access section of the Control Strip, or you can use the Remote Access Control Panel as shown below. You will need to click on the button with the '0:00:00'.
