How to create a 'Leapfrog' icon on your Desktop
To create a 'Leapfrog' dialup icon on your Desktop for most Windows operating
systems, simply double-click on your 'My Computer' icon on your desktop
and double-click on the 'Network and Dial-up Connections' folder. In that
folder, you should see an icon labeled 'Leapfrog' or 'Leapfrog Internet'
(assuming you've already set up your network connection to dial into our
network). Now just right-click on the 'Leapfrog' icon, go to 'Properties'
and 'Create Shortcut'. A window will now pop up telling you that you cannot
create a shortcut here, and will ask if you want to create a shortcut
on your Desktop instead. Click 'Yes' and the icon will be created!

What are some ways I can minimize disconnects?
Please be aware that our network providers have a hard limit of 4
hours as the session length. This means that the network will disconnect
you if you have been online for 4 hours straight. This limit is designed
to avoid 'dedicated' connections and protect the surfing experience of
the majority of users. After this session disconnect, users will be able
to login again immediately. If your disconnects are happening before the
4 hour session limit, please try the suggestions below:
Because each Windows-based operating system and email program is a little
different, your options may vary, but we have three suggestions for you:
First, in the Start menu, open Settings and Control Panel, then:
Click Internet Options.
Click the Connection tab.
Click the Settings button.
Click Advanced.
Uncheck the box next to 'disconnected if idle for (blank) minutes' and
save your settings.
Second, in Outlook/Outlook Express, go to the Tools menu and down
to Options. Somewhere in there (again, it will depend on the version),
there may a setting to 'Disconnect after sending/receiving'. Make sure
this is UNCHECKED and save your settings.
Third, while you are still in Outlook/Outlook Express, go again
to the Tools menu and down to Options. Look for an option to 'Send and
receive every __ minutes.' Change this options to '10', and save your
settings.

How can
I save emails within the WebMail Program?
This is actually a setting in your PC-based email program such as
Outlook or Outlook Express, because whenever these programs are running
they will automatically deliver the mail to your computer and remove them
from the mail server. If you want to leave your emails on the server,
simply open Outlook or Outlook Express, go to 'Tools', 'Accounts', highlight
your Leapfrog email account, and go to 'Properties'. In the window that
opens, go to the 'Advanced' tab and check the box that says 'Leave a copy
of messages on server'. Versions of Outlook and Outlook Express will vary
slightly on exactly how to make this change, but this should give you
a good place to start looking.

How do
I manage multiple email accounts?
Within
Outlook Express, there is a feature called 'Identities' that allows you
to keep multiple email accounts separate. From the 'File' menu, go to
'Identities', then to 'Add New Identity', and follow the prompts to set
up your new Identities (eg., 'His' and 'Her' Identities). Make sure to
configure the email address that you would like as part of that Identity
(eg., his@leapmail.net). Then you can go to 'File', then 'Switch Identities'
to configure the email address for that Identity (eg., her@leapmail.net).
Once the Identities have been set up, you can go back and forth between
them to keep your email accounts separate.

My 'Leapfrog
Dialer' keeps popping up- how can I make it stop?
If
your Leapfrog Dialer pops up continuously and you'd like to make it stop,
click on the 'Options' button on the Dialer. Make sure that the option
to 'CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY' is not checked, and also make sure that 'SET
AS DEFAULT INTERNET CONNECTION' is not checked. Both of these options
will cause the dialer to open up in most cases when any application on
your PC requests access o the Internet (example Outlook, Internet Explorer,
Instant Messenger programs etc...) If you need any further assistance,
please visit the following link and print the page for reference:

How to switch from your current ISP
Switching to Leapfrog is really quite simple. First you need to create
an account with us either using on our
or by calling one of our friendly and helpful representatives at 877.807.0989.
Once your account is set up, you need to configure your computer to dial
into the Leapfrog network to access the Internet and set up your email
program to send and receive emails. Configuring is a snap- you can use
our quick and easy setup wizard or we can send easy-to-follow directions
to you. And of course, we are always ready to step in and help over the
phone if you need us, too- that number is 877.266.4831. Once you have
confirmed that everything is set up properly, we recommend that you send
an email to your friends and family to let them know about your new email
address. Finally, and our customers tells us this is their favorite part,
you get to call your current ISP and say 'so sorry, but I'm hopping the
web at Leapfrog Internet now, so you can _________________' (you fill
in the blank).

Why do I need to put an email account into my Outlook/Outlook Express
even though I won't be using Leapfrog email?
For our unlimited ISDN users, Leapfrog Internet requires an email setup
known as a 'relay account' or 'POP and Drop' configuration. This configuration
requires you to have a Leapfrog email account setup and active in your
Outlook/Outlook Express program to authenticate onto our network. This
is required as a spam protection; by having the relay email account authenticating
into the mail server, the network can verify the user as a valid user
on the network. Otherwise, a user would be able to use their ISDN connection
to send out bulk email, which could clog up the network and degrade the
performance for other users on the network. As Leapfrog aggressively protects
the surfing experience of our customers, we require this configuration.
Please keep in mind that you do not need to actually use the Leapfrog
email; it just needs to be setup and active in your Outlook/Outlook Express
program.

What
is the storage and attachment limit on email accounts?
By default, every email account comes with 5MB of storage. This means
that at any give point you are entitled to have 5MB of files on our mail
server. This also means that the maximum attachment size you can receive
is also 5MB (there is no limit on the size of sending attachments). However,
if you are using our WebMail program as your
mail email method, and you have emails stored on our mail server taking
up disk space, the maximum attachment size will be decreased by the amount
of disk space the stored emails are taking up. For example, if you have
1MB of emails residing on our mail server via the WebMail program, the
maximum file size thet you could receive would be 4MB. On a case-by-case
basis, we can increase the size of a user's mailbox to 10MB. If this is
a requirement of yours, please send
your request with an explanation of why you need the additional space.

What
are the differences between WebMail and using an email program such as
Outlook Express?
There are some important differences between using WebMail and POP email
(email that is downloadable into an email program such as Outlook, Outlook
Express, Entourage, MacMail, etc.). WebMail is email that is kept and
held on our server to be viewed via our WebMail interface (the 'check
email' link on our home page). This is very convenient because it allows
you to view your email from any Internet connection in the world. This
is similar to how AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. allow you to manage your email.
However, it has certian limitations such as you cannot compose or view
messages while offline, and there are always storage
size limits on the mail box. Some ISPs (not Leapfrog) even delete
your emails after a certain time period. In contrast, using POP email
with an email program allows you to compose and view offline, and saves
your emails on your computer instead of the ISP mail server. This allows
you to save a much greater amount of emails; plus, if you ever change
ISPs (never FROM Leapfrog, always TO Leapfrog :)) you will always have
those saved emails on your computer. For all of these reasons, Leapfrog
recommends that our customers use POP email as their main email management
system, and uses our WebMail interface as a secondary method when travelling
or away from their 'home' computer.

Why choose Leapfrog Internet?
There are many reasons to choose Leapfrog Internet. In a nutshell, we
offer a fair price for a premium service. We are a full-service ISP: toll-free
technical support so that you can talk to a real human if you run into
a problem with your service; we do not share your private information,
nor do we subject you to ads, banners, spy marketing (some companies track
your path on the Web and then forward information about you to other third
parties); we provide anti-spam and filtering services at no additional
charge. We are a national provider with best-of-breed systems and software.
We do not disguise our prices by offering a low rate but then charging
overage fees, tech support access fees, or other added charges. Those
added charges add up! Here is a story about a person charged over $400
for a MONTH of Internet access:
http://www.screwedcentral.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000322.html
An ISP who charges $9 a month has to cut costs somewhere - in services
provided, in quality of equipment, in performance of their connection
to the Internet. Join Leapfrog and have peace of mind that you have a
full-service, premium ISP at your service! We are a financially-sound,
reputable company with thousands of subscribers nationwide.

What can I do if I receive unwanted SPAM email?
If you receive unwanted spam email, we ask that you join us
in the fight against these obnoxious spammers by forwarding the spam email
to us at abuse@leapmail.net within
48 hours of your receipt of this email. Leapfrog belongs to an organization
called SpamCop, which helps ISPs by adding the known spammers to what
is known as a 'blackhole list'. Once a spammer is put on this list (again,
we must receive the spam email within 48 hours of your receipt), Leafrog
and other ISPs who belong to SpamCop will no longer receive any email
that originates from this loser, er, spammer.

Does Leapfrog support v.92 modems?
Leapfrog does currently support v.92 modems in the sense that you can
use your v.92 modem on any access number on our network. In addition,
a large percentage of our access numbers support the v.92 functionality
(e.g. modem call waiting). You can check to see if v.92 is available in
your area by doing a search
from our order form.

What sort of authentication method does Leapfrog use?
Leapfrog authentication methods are PAP and/or CHAP- you can use either
one. PAP/Chap is the most common authentication method used by ISPs.

Does Leapfrog Internet offer newsgroups?
Leapfrog Internet does not currently offer newsgroup services to our customers
for three main reasons. First, we have found that most of the third-party
newsgroup services are simply unreliable; second, we have found that the
majority of newsgroup users are searching for pornographic material; and
last, a significant portion of newsgroup users are doing nothing more
than harvesting email addresses in order to send spam email. As we have
a very aggressive ,
this does not go over well with us, nor can we guarantee the quality of
the newsgroups we provide. We recommend that users with a true need for
quality news services use other providers such as those listed below:

What are 'blackhole lists'?
Over the last year or so, consumer protection groups, along with ISPs,
have stepped up their efforts to fight spam email. Spam costs the general
economy millions of dollars per year and is a growing nuisance to the
Internet community. One of the ways they are fighting spam is through
the use of 'blackhole' lists. When a person receives a spam email, they
now have the ability to forward that email to an organization (SpamCop,
etc.) that maintains a blackhole list. This is a list of ISP's that allow
(either by policy or by the configuration of their mail servers) their
users to send spam. Other ISPs subscribe to this blackhole list, and refuse
to accept any email that originated from the offending ISP. The offending
ISP is notified that they are on the blackhole list and is given opportunity
to remove themselves from the blackhole list either by changing their
policy or upgrading their mail servers to block outgoing spam.
There is some controversy over this practice because some blackhole lists
are stricter than others, the definition of spam is not always precise,
and it places the responsibility on the ISP, rather than the spammer (Leapfrog
charges a $500 fine for the first offense and automatically cancels the
account of any person that sends spam). Perhaps most importantly, however,
is that this can be an inconvenience for innocent users who are suddenly
either not able to send email to certain people or receive mail from certain
people.
Leapfrog Internet does subscribe to a blackhole list, so if you are able
to receive mail from some people, but some are getting it kicked back
them, the most likely reason (apart from typos) is that the ISP of the
sender is on one of the blackhole lists. The only option at this point
is for them to contact their ISP- with the message from the returned email-
and have their ISP get itself off of the blackhole list. This process
can take anywhere from 2-7 days, depending on the responsiveness of the
ISP. In the meantime, probably the best option (apart from having your
)
is to have them open up a free email account such as Hotmail in order
to communicate with you via email.
